John Hegley is a popular English performance
poet. His poems appear in some newspapers, he wears
glasses, and despises contact lenses. His dog ran away
in 1985. He plays the ukelele and uses his cashpoint
card as a plectrum.
Hegley was born in Islington, London, into a Roman
Catholic household, and was brought up in Luton and
Bristol. He has French ancestry, and his family is
believed to be related to the composer Jean-Philippe
Rameau. He has written a number of collections of poetry,
ranging from the surreal to the humorous to the personal
and emotional.
Hegley's stage act includes elements of poetry, music
and comedy. |
