Comedian Richard Pryor has died at the age of 65 of a heart attack. He has suffered for many years with multiple sclerosis, after being diagnosed in 1986.
The entertainer/actor, who recently celebrated his birthday December 1, passed away Saturday in the San Fernando Valley, according to his wife Jennifer Lee Pryor. Pryor was known as one of the most foul-mouthed comics of his generation and influenced many of today's comedians, including Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle. He was in more than 40 films including four with actor Gene Wilder.
The comic won an Emmy in 1974 as a writer on a Lily Tomlin special, and received five Grammys for Best Comedy Recording.

Richard Pryor was a hero to me since I was a child. I can remember watching him on tv with the sound turned down real low as I was obviously banned from watching him by my Mum. She still caught me though because I was laughing too loud!
