A Nod to the Squiff Meister! Can't Post

Since opening up the new Comedy Forum a little over a month ago, it's grown pretty well so far. It's always hard to get some momentum behind a new forum as it's a bit "chicken and egg". No-one wants to post until everyone else is, and because there's no posts, no-one starts.

But fortunately, just after opening up we got a handful of regular posters like Alias, Carol and a few others popping in every now and then. Then, after a few days a hapless young chap calling himself Squiffy started to appear and regale us all with post after post until today, after only a few weeks on the board, he's become the first contributor to reach the magical 50 posts mark and move away from "Novice" status.

Congratulations to Squiffs and thanks for supporting the forum.

One thing that struck me early on with squiffs posts was that I kept seeing mention of supporting "MS awareness" in his signature file. Now I thought Microsoft had already got lots of awareness and couldn't understand why Squiffy was raising money for BIll Gates so I went to take a look.

As it turns out MS isn't just short for Microsoft, it's also a pretty nasty thing to suffer from. Anyway (Squiffy would never be as "in your face" as this himself), I read some pretty interesting stuff on his site and it's worth a look, so go on, have a visit!

Enter Squiffy's House of Fun Here.

If you also feel the urge, you can donate something to his fund raising as well.

OK, end of free promo. Thanks for all the contributions so far Squiffy, and as for the rest of you, there's a target to beat!

Cheers

Ray

Re: [Comedy_Forum] A Nod to the Squiff Meister! [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Ray Smile

Thank you very much for your kind words etc.Cool

Thanks also for the link to the House of Fun, it has been a very special week for myself and SHOF as not only do I see I have found fame (and hopefully fortune for the MSRCWink) with the article in yesterday's Webuser Magazine (Page 61 if anyone wants a sneak look in W H Smiths Wink) but also to find such a post as yours on here.

SHOF has been a labour of love(hands out bucketsCrazy) but it has, the MSRC did so much for me when I arrrived on their boards as a scared newly diagnosed MSer ,and they, like they do with everyone else who lands before them, gave me the information, the care and the friendship to pick myself up, dust off the fear and get back into the world.

That was my motivation to take part in this year's London Marathon - you can read all about my 6.30.32 dice with Hell here http://www.shof.msrcsites.co.uk/marathon.htm, it was rather amazing and I managed to raise £18,332 into the bargain!Smile

Now I cannot do that sort of thing again, the old legs being too weak, I needed to find another way to raise the much needed funds the MSRC need (unlike the Multiple Scerosis Society) we are not as well known, and survive (literally) on donations, so this is why every penny we raise IS so important to us (I say US as when my crap company made me redundant just before the Marathon the MSRC stepped in and offered me the best job I could wish for - Webmeister for their 2000 page site and Admin of their discussion boards.Smile

Whilst I am rabbiting. We are running a new fund raising initiative with Bands and Stand Up Comics, so if you know of a up and coming band, or you do stand-up and would like to help us, can I ask you to phone the MSRC office on 01206 505444 and ask for Sue, or, alternatively, email her on sue@msrc.co.uk

It has been great on here, it is a great site, and as soon as I get my new links page up the Comedy Zone will be in there.

Talking of which, Ray, why have you not yet got the Comedy Zone on the TopComedysites.com listing??? Go for it!

I think Squiffy may be the magic bullet that all new websites look for. It wasn't long after I found comedy-zone, and posted my shameless plea for webmasters to post their comedy related sites to TopComedySites, that squiffy's house of fun became the first website on my list. I now have 41 sites on the list, including comedy zone (thanks to squffy's persistance Cool)

A Nod to Squiffy!

And make sure you check out his website, there's a lot of great information there

Re: [landlord] A Nod to the Squiff Meister! [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks John,

I cannot possibly take all the credit for what is turning into a great site (TopComedySites) but I did put the word around my many contactsWink

Am regretting (not really) persisting on this one being listed though as I have no chance of getting to No 1, not with the hit rate on here! :O)

Could I make a plea here for all of you to visit the MSRC Homepage http://www.msrc.co.uk and look at the "Click Now" piece - it is a new fundraising initiative which is very simple but potentially could raise us at the charity a lot of much needed funds. (Public Announcement overCool)

And if you all are feleing generous (well, it is Friday) pop into SHOF and drop a little donation on there (as has been done by one great Website Master not a million miles form hereCool)
